Osgood & Blaque Duo Band: Home

"I am happy with my music career. I have had the privilege of sharing the stage with some great entertainers and performing before the eyes of many good people. Some fans and some just lovers of good music, popular or not. I try to write what speaks to me from personal experience, but in trying to describe my own style, I've found that, like good friends, I know each song so well that I can no longer pass judgment on them. I prefer to let my listeners make their own observations".

"My experience in the music industry has taught me this: That if you worry about what people think of you all the time, you'll find yourself trying to please everybody. I'm happy that everywhere we perform people love our music. But I'm very dissapointed that there isn't more genuine initiated support from music industry professionals in the managing and booking business who are supposed to be looking for quality professionals".-Greg Osgood, musician.

Blaque's harmonica style has been compared to that of Louisiana-born Little Walter. People see her for the first time and think "Wow...a female harmonica player; now that's rare!" Speaking of her mentor, Mrs. Adlay Thomas, Blaque tells her story this way: "She is, to me, my greatest mentor! I have always, since I was a small girl, wanted to sing just like her. Her singing would reach out around you and stand you up, and fill you with the presence of spirit! Whenever I can, I go to hear her sing. She is still my teacher and still sings as great today as she did during my childhood!"

Tourists to Mississippi's recreational parks and historical landmarks enjoy a variety of delightful musical performances by native blues artists and musicians including King Edward, Jesse Robinson, Eddie Cotton, J.T. Watkins and The Swartz Brothers. A visit to Vicksburg and Catfish Row will deliver a refreshing air of piano and harmonica blues by Osgood & Blaque Duo Band. Blaque admits: "There were at least 200 people packed into this little club and the ones that couldn't fit were standing on the outside looking through the windows peepin' over peoples heads. It was beautiful! We got rave reviews that night! Man, we had that place rockin'. There are a couple of scenes in the video where you couldn't even see us for the people who were dancing. It was a good show. You gotta see it to believe it. We always have a good time whether we perform for young, old, small groups or large audiences. Occasionally, small children show up at our family-oriented shows". "One man of almost 80 years said: "It was like being back in the day".

A True Story: Greg Osgood was born in the small town just south of Jackson, Mississippi's capital. Determined to make his mark in the music industry, he celebrated many talent show successes before graduating high school. Osgood says: "I first encountered the piano at age six. I used to hang around an old man in my community whom everybody used to call "Mister Mot". I don't know why, but that's what we called him. He used to sit on his front porch steps of his home every evening and play his acoustic guitar. I remember quite well he used to do a lot of Johnny Lee Hooker, Jimmy Reed and some of his own stuff too. I couldn't help hanging around him all the time. I loved to hear him play. Coming from a poor family, I only had an old, worn-out "charlie brown piano" that I had got for Christmas, and I would rush home afterward and try to play the tunes I heard Mister Mot play. I knew someday that I was going to be a piano player".
